Tehama District Attorney Explains Success with Advent eLearning

The Advent eLearning program developed to divert low-level offenders from criminal proceedings has been met with great success in the Tehama County during its first year in use.

The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office issued a press release detailing the results of the Advent eLearning diversion program that was launched by the County in November of 2020. Advent eLearning is designed for low level, non-violent offenders offering a diversion before or after a formal filing of criminal charges. Offenders who do not complete the program revert to normal court proceedings.

The results stated that 40 offenders utilized the program over the last year, 27 completed it successfully, 20 failed to complete it and one is pending completion. This represents a 67.5 percent success rate in the program’s first year.

“The results show that over two-thirds of the offenders we put into AdventFS took advantage of the program and that almost 90 percent of the successful participants have had no subsequent negative law enforcement contact,” District Attorney Matt Rogers said. “This is exactly the point and purpose of this program — to give low level, first-time offenders the opportunity to correct their behavior and get back on the right path.”

When asked to comment on Roger’s press release, Josh Hartlage, President of Adventfs added, “We like being held accountable for providing behavior-changing content to offenders and a powerful platform for the District Attorney’s office to manage the processes. High participation rates and low recidivism is what we're all about.”

Rogers will continue to implement the program based on its proven success.
